So, you've made a big decision. Maybe the biggest decision of your lives so far. The first thing to say is, congratulations! We hope the love you share for one another will blossom and flourish as you make plans towards this demonstration of your commitment to one another and in the many years ahead.
You've arrived here because you are starting to think about how that big day will look and feel. Marrying in church is personal, meaningful and spiritual - just as you want it to be. Churches are special and unique places to get married in - the prayers, promises and the whole service of celebration become part of your marriage, on the day itself and beyond.
A church is so much more than a venue for your wedding. Unique and special things become part of your marriage, on the day itself and beyond: a church wedding will add a spiritual dimension to your marriage. The ceremony includes God and looks to him for help and guidance. God’s blessing is the main attraction for many couples, whatever their beliefs.
You can make amazing vows, or promises, in a church. You can only make vows this big in a church. These vows, made in public, will help you to stay together and grow together. God and your church are there for you to help you keep your vows.
Each of our five churches holds its own unique place in its landscape and each is a beautiful place to be married. It may be that you already live in one of the five parishes and so have already decided you want to be married in your parish church. But if one of the other churches appeals more for some reason, if you have a special connection with somewhere else or if you are not from the area, do not worry. There is lots of flexibility. You are welcome to marry in one of our churches if you have never set foot in a church before or if you are from miles away.
What we want to do is to help you make the most memorable, special and blessed day possible. The next step could not be easier. Simply get in touch with Simon our Vicar and he will listen to your plans and talk through with you the next steps in your amazing journey.
