Living in Love and Faith (LLF) is a course designed and organised by the Church of England which aims to address the big questions surrounding identity, sexuality, relationships, and marriage.
Debates and discussions around these issues have been bubbling up in the church for over a decade, with a whole range of differing opinions and views on how and why the Church should go about answering these questions.
The LLF course comes at a time when tensions between churches over these issues are equally high, and many have begun to change their views. The Episcopal Church of Scotland has allowed same-sex weddings since 2017 - in 2021, the Methodist church became the largest denomination to allow sex-sex marriage, and soon after the Church of Wales introduced a special blessing ceremony for same-sex couples, though stopped short of allowing them to marry. As such, the Church of England believes it is very important that they are in an informed position in this debate, and is keen to listen to the voices of its congregation.
In April of this year, the feedback from all LLF groups will be collated, and a report published in the Autumn. This will play a major part in informing the direction of travel on this issue for the General Synod at their meeting in February 2023.
